Thinking like Christ is God's act of transformation in us - the whole of who are being recreated in Christ's likeness. This is more than simply possessing the right ideas about Jesus. People who think like Christ should become like Christ.
In our worship gatherings, we cultivate a connection between the world of our faith and the world of our culture. We connect the life and teachings of Jesus with world issues and our experiences, to answer the question, 'What would it mean to think like Christ about these things?' Scott Savage and Maxie Burch challenge our community with this question through 4-to-8-week series prompting conversations on blogs, over email and coffee, and in homes and workplaces through the week.
As we think like Christ, the Bible and spiritual disciplines take center stage. They help center us in truth and reconnect us with the Spirit of God as we seek to think like Christ about all things.
Our goal is to become people who think like Christ, knowing that God is transforming us into people who are like Christ.
2010: A Year in Scripture
We invite you to join us in a new endeavor starting on January 1, 2010. The North Phoenix family (Crash included) will be reading through the Bible together. 365 days spent with hundreds and thousands of Christ-followers submitting their lives to the Scriptures on a daily basis.
To facilitate this process, we have created three different options for following along in a reading plan.
1. Every Sunday, our crash ip (Info Piece) will include a section with the readings for the following week (Mon. - Sun.). If you will be reading from a physical copy of the Bible, this is your best option.
2. For those of you who would like to read via the web, YouVersion.com is a great place to follow our reading plan as well. In the bottom right portion of their main page, a daily reading plan indicates which chapters to read each day and you can easily choose from your preferred translation.
To set up a free account on YouVersion.com that will enable you to engage in dialogue about the readings, follow these steps:
- Click on the Sign Up button at the top right hand of the page.
- You’ll need to follow the instructions and click on the link they send to
your email address. It will say, “Page Does Not Exist.”
- Ignore that and click on “Read the Bible.”
In the lower right hand corner, you’ll see a Bible Reading plan called “Life Journal
Reading Plan”.
- Click on “All Plans” and scroll down to the very last one, “Robert Roberts.”
- Click on “start this plan.”
- Once you complete that, click on “Read the Bible” again and you’ll notice
your reading plan in the lower right hand corner of the page.
- Click on the “i” icon next to “Robert Roberts” and look for the “edit dates” link
on the page.
- Follow that link and edit your dates to start the reading plan on January 1, 2010
and end on December 31, 2010.
3. For those of you with a smart phone, you can visit YouVersion.com/mobile and download the app for your iPhone, Blackberry, or Android. This simple application is a great way to read every day wherever you are.
Here are the readings for the first three days of January to get you started:
Friday, Jan. 1 | Genesis 1-2, Psalms 1-2, Matthew 1-2
Saturday, Jan. 2 | Genesis 3-4, Psalms 3-5, Matthew 3-4
